Hans-Jürgen Krahl – an anthology
Adorno’s most radical student, and one of the leading figures of the West German student movement of the late 1960s, was killed in a road accident in 1970, leaving behind a body of texts and speeches, most of which were published in the collection Constitution and Class Struggle (Konstitution und Klassenkampf) in 1971. A small selection from this collection is published here for the first time in Greece, starting with the particularly characteristic Declarations about myself (Angaben zur Person), which Krahl delivered in court as accused of inciting to rebellion. Next comes the analysis of The Logic of Substance in Marx’s Commodity Analysis (Zur Wesenslogik der Marxschen Warenanalyse), with which Krahl pioneers a critical reading of the Marxian critique of political economy inter alia through the conceptualization of classical German philosophy, notably Immanuel Kant and G.W.F. Hegel. The combative critique of the modern state is summed up in his 1968 unfinished On the Philosophy of History of the Authoritarian State (Zur Geschichtsphilosophie des autoritären Staa¬tes), with which Krahl maps out the possibilities of emancipatory politics in the postwar political system. The Theses on the general relationship between the scientific intellect and proletarian class consciousness (Thesen zum allgemeinen Verhältnis von wissen¬schaftlicher Intelligenz und proletarischem Klassenbewusstsein) move in the same direction, from the point of view not only of the combination of the student and labor movement, but addressing the equally important question of the subjection of the scientific intellect to the exploitation of capital. The selection is framed by the text of Dimitris Karydas, Processes of reification, class consciousness and political formation. Hans-Jürgen Krahl – Theoretician of ’68, which has been specially compiled for this purpose. Krahl’s presentation marks the redefinition of a quest that has remained historically meteoric, although the critical focus remains strong and the interpretive issues active.

The article analyzes primarily the most important reactions since the publication in October 1919 of Max Weber’s speech “Science as a Vocation”. It presents the confrontation between Erich von Kahler and Arthur Salz regarding the “vocational” localization of science in a modernity that has undergone radical restructuring due to the First World War. Ernst Krieck’s overwhelmingly positive reaction to Kahler’s publication is also analyzed. Next, the presentation turns indicatively to the contemporary views of V.I. Lenin on the role of youth in a revolutionary period. Finally, the confrontation between Dimitris Glinos and Ioannis Sykoutris is summarized regarding the youth and its position in an era of profound uncertainty.
The essay discusses a small selection of unpublished letters signed by Louise Michel and addressed to Panagiotis Argyriades dated from 1885 to 1901. I attempt to historically contextualize and critically examine this correspondence with a view to foregrounding the unknown relations between the two revolutionaries. The essay also selectively cites and describes material drawn from the case file of Argyriades during his surveillance by the Paris Police. I briefly summarize the multiplicity and traceability of the mediation by the state apparatus, as well as the way in which the two archival records share common ground; given that the Louise Michel letters shed light on the police record as a derivative (or even perhaps a product) of power relations, they allow the historian to contrapuntally read the archive.
The article by Nikos Papadatos “Guilty by suspicion: The fate of the Greek communists in the USSR during the ‘Great Terror’: 1936-1939”, is based exclusively on primary sources from the state archives of the Russian Federation.
The study presents a new perspective on the persecution of Greek communists who lived in Moscow and the territories of the former USSR during the period 1936-1939. This study uses the micro-historical method to challenge the common analysis of this period. At the heart of microhistory is the principle of reduction of the object: understanding a large-scale historical phenomenon through a specific ad-hoc criterion. This can be a controlled field of limited size, but of great heuristic value, and must be investigated within the general historical context.
The persecution of Greek communists is reframed by analysing the everyday actions of the main actors in history, rather than using the broad study of the struggle of the masses.

Perversity, Futility, Jeopardy το 1991, ανακεφαλαιώνοντας και επικαιροποιώντας την επιχειρηματολογία και συλλογιστική της αντιδραστικής σκέψης από το 1789 έως την εποχή του.
